This delightful cottage on West Looe Hill is new to the books for the 2023 season and is going to be a popular choice for lots of our guests. Just a short walk from the river's edge in West Looe and yet far enough out of town to avoid the hustle and bustle at busy times of the year. The cottage is beautifully put together and will offer a comfortable stay all year round.
The stylish lounge on the ground floor is a welcoming room with original stone walls, beamed ceilings and a wood-burning stove for cosy evenings in. To the rear of the cottage is a small but well-equipped kitchen which includes a gas oven, grill and hob, fridge, freezer and washing machine. There is a small dining area off the kitchen with a table and four chairs.
Upstairs are the two bedrooms and the family bathroom. The master bedroom has a king-size bed and the twin room has 2'6" beds which are considered more suitable for children. Beds, bedding and towels are all of high quality to ensure a comfortable night's sleep. The family bathroom is a good size and has a bath with an electric shower over, WC and wash hand basin.
To the rear of the cottage is a terraced garden and at the top is a Summerhouse and outdoor seating area with fire pit from where you can see the sea. There are some preliminary outside photographs which are wet and wintery but give guests an idea of the space. In the Summer months the garden is bathed in sunshine throughout the day and is a lovely spot to just sit and relax.
The delights of Looe are just a short walk down the hill. The popular Jolly Sailor pub is two minutes away as well as West Looe General Stores which is a great little delicatessen-style shop. When the tide is in you can hop on the foot ferry across to the East side of Looe, or the walk round takes 10 minutes where there are numerous more shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs as well as the main sandy beach.

We had a wonderful stay at Penbrea in late October. The cottage was clean, cosy, and inviting, with thoughtful touches that made it feel like a home away from home. The log burner was a lovely addition, especially during the cooler evenings, we would love to return in the summer to make full use of the beautifully designed garden. Despite being a smaller property, Penbrea has everything you could need for a comfortable stay. There were plenty of books and games to enjoy, as well as a fully equipped kitchen and dining area. Even the little things like a laundry basket and an umbrella were thoughtfully provided. The location was ideal for us, with a short walk into town, the beach, and up to Hannafore Point. The two small shops just a minute’s walk away were incredibly handy, making it easy to pick up any essentials. We loved our time at Penbrea and will be looking to stay here again on our next visit to Looe. Highly recommended!Hannah - October 2024
No issues. Very clean. Amazing cottage and an ideal location. Will be rebooking.Lorraine & Les - July 2024
Beautiful outside space to enjoy , we were very lucky with the weather so had meals in the garden and dried washing outside. Neighbours friendly , street is steep but benefit of handy shop on it and harbour side at the bottom . We loved our stay and would like to return next year.Chrissie - July 2024
Our family had a lovely stay at the cottage. It’s a great location, close to the beach and lots of tasty bakeries nearby. The cottage had what we needed & the garden was lovely to sit in the summer evenings.Immy - June 2024
A great little cottage for a short stay in Looe, fully equipped and cosy!Rob - March 2024
Lovely cosy cottage, close to a lovely deli, café, pubs and excellent Sardine Factory restaurant. In West Looe but only a ten minute walk to East Looe via bridge or the short £1 trip on the ferry across the river. Cottage well stocked with everything you need if self catering. Good stock of books for all tastes and lots of board games. Amazing garden on several levels, uppermost level providing seaview in distance. We were blessed with very good weather for most of week but the heating worked excellently when required towards end of week when temperatures dropped a little! Instant hot water and excellent wifi. Peaceful location amidst lots of characterful cottages and houses. Thank you Helena for a very enjoyable break in lovely Looe!David - October 2023
Thank you for hire of your lovely cottage. We thoroughly enjoyed our week, being particularly fortunate with the weather.Sue & David - October 2023
What a lovely property Penbrea is! Beautifully decorated and has everything you could possibly need. The house is gorgeous, but we spent most of the time in the uppermost terrace of the garden, where the sea views and sunshine were best. I would highly recommend a holiday to Looe, and Penbrea is the perfect place to stay. Situated in the quieter West Looe, it is only a gentle 10 minute walk into the busier East Looe where there are more restaurants and a lovely beach. What a fab holiday!Carrie - August 2023
Beautiful cottage, couldn’t of asked for more from all the household amenities and little things like games, picnic blanket, children’s cutlery and washing powder were appreciated extras. The cottage furnishings are so cosy, the living space is just lovely with stable door and corner sofa. We felt so at home, 5minute walk to harbour front down the hill and deli is great for food. Our 1yr old loved the house and they kindly arranged a cot and high chair for us. Such a perfect stay we’ll definitely be back.Louise - July 2023
